Closed Circuit TV Cameras at Calvin

Postby bennyling on Thu Feb 21, 2008 6:02 pm

Well, as we all know, there have been the mysterious appearance of some CCTV Cameras at locations all around the school. But for what purpose? And by what means?

Well, as far as I can tell, the Cameras were supposedly given to the school as part of some government grant, and are in place to prevent vandalism and to "make the school a safer place".

Right. Sure.

We all know that the REAL reason that they're there...

They want to spy on us!

Anyway, these look familiar?

Image

They're pretty much un-hackable, as well. IP address filtering, Bonjour support, IR Camera (can see objects at high speed in dark with clarity), Power over Ethernet, VGA resolution... The ONLY good news, it seems, is that the staff don't seem to know much about them, or aren't saying anything incriminating...

Thoughts? Post 'em here.

We have cameras at work too - but I dont think thats a bad thing.

But then again - I'm not involved in dodgey stuff, and I can access most of the servers if I wanted to. I often make stupid faces or just stare into the cameras for a few minutes - just in case someone is actually watching.

What are you guys doing that you dont want others to see? They really arnt going to the bothered watching footage unless they have a reason to look back on it. If there's an 'incident' then they'll go to the cameras - but thats about it.

Didn't you guys know, dodgy is my middle name..

Wow, you must feel pretty bored at work if you're staring into cameras for that long.. a couple of minutes is a long time to stare into a camera.

Certain incidents will happen at school, I can guarantee you of that. Especially around the end of the year...

Yeah, believe me, we are.

Thing is, who ever chose them for the School chose them well - they're insanely protected!

Unfortunately, that's called vandalism, and that's bad!

Whoa. Contacts, you have.

Anyways - even if they were run by Calvin, that have scary things like only selected IP address' are allowed to access and control them. Plus, all the usual stuff like passwords, etc...
